Exploring Initiatives was an internal exercise of the Khoj Kolkata Working Group, involving both mid-career and young artists, students and theoreticians. The purpose was to inculcate awareness about diverse and alternative art practices, and initiate the participants into a process leading up to the international artist’s workshop. Exploring Initiatives allowed artists an opportunity to share ideas and collaborate outside the studio, in an environment that was created rather than given, the emphasis being on process rather than product. Much of the work was time-and-site specific, and generated from the environment itself.
